ABOUT THE AUXILIARY:
The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary has approximately 27,000 members who volunteer to actively provide safety patrols on area waterways and regularly meets with the boating public at marinas and in classrooms.  Auxiliarists also directly assist the U.S. Coast Guard in non-law enforcement programs such as search and rescue, and marine environmental protection.
Logo of US Department of Homeland Security As a branch of the the US Coast Guard , the Auxiliary is part of the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

The US Coast Guard Auxiliary is dedicated to water and boating safety through boating classes, free vessel examinations, marine dealer visits and water patrol operations. We offer free Vessel Safety Check aimed at ensuring that the recreational boater has the necessary safety equipment aboard.

The Hilo Flotilla  is happy to offer this service to the public.  If you are interested,  an Auxiliary representative will be happy to arrange a free inspection of your vessel. While this is the foundation of our mission, we offer many more educational opportunities. If you are new to the Auxiliary, new to boating or to our beautiful island please feel free to contact us and learn more.
